Let's get this party started! It's been a bit since I've used a new boar brush and I did not expect it to go well. I was pleasantly surprised, and this brush is actually really nice and not terribly scritchy out of the box.
I think I might have too many HoM soaps at this point - they're nearly half my den now - but Ben just can't stop hitting it out of the park. Overall a very good shave, and I expect that to continue through the month.

Another good shave. This brush is a little small, so I seem to run out of lather and have to go back to the tub after a pass or two. If I can remember to load more from the start, this should be a good month of shaves.

I figure if I'm uploading a SOTD picture every day, it might as well be half decent. I know next to nothing about photography, but for the rest of the month I'm going to try to learn something and get a few good pictures.
I think today my lighting was alright, but the soap tub started tipping over and the angle the picture's taken at looks a little awkward. Well, maybe I'll get a better one tomorrow.

I liked my SOTD pic yesterday, but it felt like it was missing something and could be better. Today I went for a similar photo in a different part of my yard, and I think it turned out pretty well. It's not perfect, and the grass is a little dead, but overall I think it's a decent picture.

Aug. 31, 2022 - Auster August: A Month in Review
Well, it's finally over. It's been a good month, at least in a shaving sense. Alive smells great, Tusk continues to be my favorite soap base, HoM's balm is fantastic, and I've got a great, broken in boar brush. The last few shaves have been only so-so, my blade is clearly on its way out.
I also tried to get better at SOTD pics this month, and I think I made some real improvements. I think I've got a great improvement between my first and last pictures, as well as what I though was my best picture this month.
All in all, a good month, and a lot of fun.
