First time ever using a boar and woof, can't say day 1 out of the box is a joy to use. I've heard the Maggard's boars are better than most too.

I promise I'll get my act together and edit my post with photos of the brand new boar in a hot minute! Just didn't want to miss out on the start of Austere August and #RawHoggin.

As for whether or not I'll actually be austere for August - no, no I don't think I will. I plan on using the same brush and razor for the full month, which feels like enough of a commitment to some austerity that I'll keep using my den like always. It'll be fun seeing how the boar breaks in with a month of use though!

Edited to include pictures of the new brush. I don't have an unboxing video because it was a separate handle and knot, but I do have the boxes of those!

August 1, 2022 - AA Day 2

Day 2 of boar break-in!

Day 2 was a bit better. Only lost two hairs and found and plucked one particularly pokey one. This thing builds lather slow. I feel like it took me a good 10 minutes to build a decent lather and it was still probably a bit on the dry side. I'm probably picking up too much soap, but I'm sure I'll dial that in as I go. Otherwise a real nice shave.

Today was kinda a meh shave. I think I rushed things a bit. Fun scent though, but I think I'm still using too much soap.

I don't know what it is about this scent, but it's probably my most used soap of the last couple of months. Just hits the spot.

Sure, I may have missed posting for a day, but I'm trying this new thing where when I break a streak I've had going, I don't just immediate switch into the "why bother" mentality and give it up for a month, but instead get back on the horse and keep at it. We'll see how that goes.

After a few days of not much shedding, this knot decided to lose like 15 hairs tonight. Hopefully I'm getting to the end of that. There are still two super prickly hairs in there that I haven't been able to weed out. I'll get them one of these days! Brush is definitely better than the first couple of days.
