I expected the worst part of the new boar brush to be the stiffness of the hair. Wrong! The smell was pretty bad starting with the loading. It definitely overtook the scent of the soap. I got a few pokes from the brush and it felt like I should be using it to clean off home plate rather than using it on my face. 30 more to go. It will only get better.

The brush didn’t smell as bad today and should be good before the end of the week. However, the brush seemed much stiffer on day 2. I loaded heavy yesterday and had no issues but today I had to reload while building my initial lather. It could be the different soap. It could be me because this tub is at the end and maybe I didn’t load as much as I thought. If my lather building took much longer, I could have skipped the shave and just used the brush to take off the hair and a few layers of skin.

I chose Arctique today for multiple reasons. It is supposed to be very warm here today. I should be able to build a great lather with Omnibus no matter what. If I do have issues like yesterday, it will numb my face. I was right, I did have an easy time lathering and my face wasn’t irritated like yesterday. I think my Tuesday issue was because I was near the end of the tub and didn’t load enough.
The smell of the brush is fading more and I see and feel a slight change in the brush.

I thought that the smell of the brush subsided after a week or so. However, stuck my nose into the brush today and there is still some funk to it. I guess the scent of the soap overtakes the lesser smell of the brush at this point. I can’t detect the smell of the brush without getting my nose into it.
