Two and a half pass shave, I was feeling confident day 1.

I owned one crappy Pure Badger brush before this and that's it - so day 1 the 820 was more pleasant on my face than what I've been using. Insane backbone compared to what I'm used to. I will also have to relearn lathering, I transitioned from under loaded over hydrated to over loaded, thick, blade sticking lather by the end.

Still felt great though. Very close very smooth shave. Omnibus rescued me today.

August 2, 2022 - Return of the Nightmare Hog

Two passes with touch ups.

Much much more splay than yesterday on the 820. I think we will get along just fine. Significantly better lather than yesterday but will still require tinkering with water amounts, far from what I used to produce with my only other brush. Im starting to think I had brush burn for 6 months, my skin is improving already.

Two passes flat. Trying to preserve this blade to hit 30 shaves.

More improvements on the lather but still running out during 2nd pass. I keep thinking I'm overloading before going to face but I think the 820 is a hungry hungry hippo. Reading other folks posts I'm glad that my Semogue didn't stink post soak and Eigengrau beat any smell away instantly.

It seems like a no duh moment but trying to preserve this blade to hit 30 shaves is making my shaves much more efficient, I was buffing alot unnecessarily on early passes before.

Easily the best lather yet with my new boar. Im splaying more in the tub to load the centre of the knot and that seems to help. I love this brush, I should've gone hog ages ago.

Honestly these keep getting better. I'm more and more comfortable with Boar and amount of water to leave in the knot before loading to keep it fed for a few passes. First bloodshed of AA for me, super minor - it healed with a wash and aftershave, no alum needed.

Nice big shiny lather today. Starting to feel some pulling under my chin where hair is dense I hope it was poor technique and not blade dulling - ive got 24 more to get out of it!

The more and more I use Eigengrau the more I love it. I was really not a fan for the first few uses but it seems much smoother now.

Conservative 2 pass shave since it will be less than 24 hours until my next and I had a little tuggy time under my chin (heads out of the gutter) yesterday. I suspect my lather dehydrated.

Almost forgot to post, rushed shave this morning and straight to work. Setup and 1/4 mile photos on the brush.

Fortunately my lather turned out well considering I was just dumping water into the brush to speed things up.

Neurologists of r/wetshaving is there a nerve under your chin that runs to your nose? I get a really unpleasant feeling in my nose going ATG under my chin.

Shave 11, one-third of the way there. My only gripe so far with the 820 is not holding enough later. I hope that changes upon break in! If not I still love the little rascal.

Getting DQd from rawhoggin was a godsend. I certainly appreciate the prize offered but for me not stressing about posting is well worth it.

Ive stuck with the nightmare mode raw hog, and have loved it. Next year ill try some different challenges but will not press myself to post 30 shaves!

Congrats to all! After missing a couple posts I gave up on reddit for a bit but continued with the original plan.

I love this brush (end of August updates in above photo dump) and look forward to continuing the break in although it is already very soft and comfortable.

I am surprised with how easy it was to get 31 shaves from my Bic blade. Shave 31 was actually one of my finest.

Ring of death begins! Only a few uses before AA, this brush ate soap!
