When you don't notice how your own kids grow, I don't see too much change in the brush shape. I've taken some videos and photos of the bristles with the microscope.

I've observed three different bristles, from thickest to least. The black ones, that I made responsible for the prickliness (we talked about that u/EldrormR9), are the more interesting splitting in 4, with sub-splits, seems those are the less processed bristles. The brown ones, less thick than black, are splitting in three. And the finest, of a lighter brown colour, split in two.
