Well, day 1 of the noble month. Zenith brush was easy on my face AF, almost nada of scritch, perhaps a bristle or two. I can only imagine how delightful this will be at the end. Chiseled Face is as easy as it gets for lathering. And this shavette is one of the 60-something mm blades I got some time ago off the 'zaar. Great shaver, and I get the closest shaves out of this. But it had been collecting dust.

Day two. Only two pass shave today. I was thinking to myself "maybe next year I do unchallenge with a shavette, this isn't hard at alGHHHHHH!" Damn, I got a double hit, one of them was critical, in my right earlobe, and got me bleeding for like 30 minutes or so, nothing as bad as to require blood transfusion, but still, even with styptic pencil it went on for a while. Lather was great, as ypu can only expect from such a magnificent soap, paired with a majestic scent. Day two of using my Zenith and I even love it more than quite a few of my DG brushes. I'd say minimal to almost none scritch. I can only imagine how this will evolve.

After purchasing the soap, I though I could go full Stagfecta, ala u/Jimtasticness, but kind of messed up with times, so I think I will be going that way next year.

Day five. Damn it's been some busy days. Today was the presentation of a book I wrote a chapter on. So fancy dinner and that, in my Stag smell, proudly. Brush has really got even softer than at the begining, it is already as soft as a Motherloade knot, but with excellent backbone, and a gorgeous copper handle. I just can't wait until I get my subreddit's exclusive brush. Went only for a 2 pass shave, as I need to shave early tomorrow for a wedding, where the Stag will of course be present. Less of a massacre, compared to the past days, but still I wouldn't call this an easy shave.

As usual, I won't waste the opportunity to diss all the non-stag-users who prefer to smell like "a wonderful summer afternoon, with acuatic undertones, just a hint of citrus and the slightest floral overtones", instead of the true only scent.

Day six. Wedding day today, and we were godparents to the couple. Cold water shave, as it was 87°F today (31°C in basically any other place). The shave was the smoothest and less bloody to date. Brush is (quoting the Fab Four) getting so much better all the time. Def one of my favorites, along the DG B10, and soon to arrive B1 (hopefully will get a B5 and 6 some day). Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to make my first sidetracking post.

Day seven. While technically not my birthday shave, this is the shave I'll be using for the birthday lunch tomorrow. 3 pass shave, with just a bit of blood. It was 301 Kelvins today, so I went for cold water shave. Really smooth, I must say.

Staying at a hotel with a magnifying mirror, So I made use of it. First of all, you can evaluate if your lather is rather bubbly, and you can also see how the stubble gradually gets shorter with each pass. Is it expendable? Absolutely! But it was an interesting shave.

The brush is really enjoyable, though copper's getting some patina. Any clues on how to clean it without ruining it?

So, finally, paging u/Teufelskraft for the #sidetracked part of AA. The song I chose Comfortably Numb, from Pink Floyd's 1979 album The Wall. Needless to say, it is a great song, one of the masterpieces of classic rock. Song structure is not complex at all. Three different chord progressions, for the verse, prechorus and chorus. Nothing elaborated, dissonant chords or psychodelic progressions. Still, the song is solid, full, and with a big and dense atmosphere, perfectly picturing the alienation of the character. It has an interesting rhythm pattern for bass and drums, somewhat different to what is found in the majority of music, which I think contributes to the dense and mystic atomsphere. Two solos, the first one, very elegant, yet with a delicate feeling. The second is a gut-wrenching experience. Raw, overdriven, climaxing, with absolutely top-class feeling. Arguably one of the best solos ever.

This particular version is huge, not just because of the production, but because it features Dave Gilmour.

And why is this song important to me? Certainly it wasn't the first PF song I ever heard (most certainly it was another brick in the wall), but it is a song I covered with a classic rock band while in medschool, and it takes me to tjat special times

Day eight. Birthday shave. I am getting my touch honed with this paticular shavette. Great shave, though I could improve the jawline, still 23 more shaves. The wet brush is starting to look like Super Sayan hair, lots of split hairs by now. I think it is almost on the same level as my heavily used Omegas. I can only imagine how this will get.

Day ten. Even though I was running late, did enjoy a great 3 pass shave. With apecial attention to skin stretching, had a great jawline result. Brush was somewhat scritchy at first, perhaps didn't soaked long enough. The Stag was marvelous, as always. Hopefully I will get to moar Sidetracked posts soon.

Day eleven. Anniversary day. Three pass was not as smooth as it was last time. Perhaps this side's useful life is coming near to an end, let's see how much further I can push it. Loaded with a less wet brush, so it was less of a mess, but it came at the cost of barely making it to the third pass. Brush is coming just fine.

Day thirteen. One week til the firstborn arrives! Shave was good, though I think this side of tje blade might be coming to the end of its life, though it has become a lot smoother. Perhaps it is the power of the Stag healing my skin. Also the Stag has made a great job breaking in the Zenith brush.

I think I've got used to this setup, still the jawline continues to be the weak spot. Brush seems to be fine, but still not as good as my Omegas (pretty sure it will get there, and then some). Almost half way down the road.

Today at 8.13 was born the new Squier of The Stag (if the Grand Master allows to call him lile that) what a rollercoaster of emotions. Fortunately, both Mrs. OBeardWan and OBeardWan Jr. Are both with good health. Lather was great, I did use a bit drier brush and added water, instead of initially drowning the soap. Blade is holding on, let's see how far can I push it.

Good shave, I think I'm improving with the jawline. Yesterday in the night apparently the baby was a bit cold, so he cried a lot. Let's see how it goes now that we've fixed that. Good shave, but again having trouble with jawline. We'll see when I flip the blade. Brush is as good as any other. Soft, great water retention, good splay. I hope I can soon start breaking in the sub's exclusive brush. In the video you can see my hesitating about being 3 or 4 sprays.

For my second (and I hope not last) #sidetracked post, I choose Chuck Mangione's Feels So Good. Why? May u/teufelskraft ask. Well, it's a great song, but since the judge won't allow this, lemme elaborate. It evokes a very soothing feeling, kind of sitting in front of your floor-to-ceiling, watching the rain, listening to this on your turntable (if that's your thing). On the more technical side of things, I was listening to the Tidal version (FLAC, as my AVR won't play MQA), and stereo imaging is brutal, you can pinpoint the instruments on stage, I was astounded to it.

Also, it reminds me when I was in medschool, I was in a classic rock band, and the guitarrist had this guitar synth, and used the trumpet patch to play the main line, and I never knew which song it was, until I saw Dr. Strange, and he mentions it at the begining of the movie.

Only 3 more shaves! With the newborn, shaving everyday is not always something I'm looking forward to. Anyway, the blade is still going strong. Let's see how much can I get.

For my third installment of u/teufelskraft's #sidetracked challenge, I'd like to put on the table this cover of Ray Charles' I Don't Need No Doctor. There are countless covers of this song. While I do like Ray Charles' (which is actually a cover itself, but more famous than the original release), the John Scoffield, and later John Mayer version is more appealing to me. While I always considered JM more of a pop artist. He's got very interesting eras, such as John Mayer Trio, or the Where the light is album. While I wouldn't call him a virtuoso, I enjoy the groove, funk, and feeling he gives to his music. The other versions I do like are the ones derived from Humble Pie's version, including WASP's and even Styx (Please listen to Big Bang Theory by Styx, that album's magnificent).
